Summary:
The Family Engagement Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, processing eligibility, enrolling, and serving families and children in the GSRP program.
The Family Engagement Coordinator also assists in planning and implementing family engagement activities.
The Family Engagement Coordinator maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families and participates in continuous quality improvement activities that strengthen the program and families in GSRP.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Family Engagement Recruits, processes eligibility, and enrolls families into the program.
They also share information about Head Start or other educational settings if applicable.
Assists families by providing recommendations, support, and/or referrals to relevant community resources.
Maintains contact with families based on needs to promote partnerships and communication.
Plans and coordinates countywide Children and Families Empowered (C.

) in conjunction with the GSRP Coordinator, multiple times a year.
Assists with transitions of child and family into the next educational setting.
Parent and Community Engagement Participates in recruitment efforts/activities for the program.
Assists families in completing on-line enrollment application and necessary enrollment paperwork.
Assists in planning and facilitating parent orientations, parent meetings, parent education, C.

and other family activities.
Actively encourages parents to participate in Parent Advisory meetings, field trips, data team meetings, and classroom volunteering.
Advocates and collaborates with community agencies to support child, family, and agency outcomes.
Prevention and Early Intervention Maintains regular contact with children and families in the classroom settings.
Maintains on-going contact with teaching staff in order to gain information regarding child and family needs.
Utilize Information Systems to Support Family/Agency Outcomes Documents and monitors follow-up needs, home visits, health, hearing, and vision information in the children's files to ensure compliance with all regulations in licensing and GSRP.

Other Duties:
Attends and participates in related team meetings, trainings, and professional development.
Assists with breaks, transportation, and other classroom needs as requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required with a concentration in family life, child development, social work or related social science area preferred.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Experience working with early childhood children age's three (3) to five (5).
Prefer experience working with low-income families or with risk factors.
Work experience that demonstrates the ability to work well with community service agencies, complete child development assessments and conduct home visits.
Prefer work experience in child development or related service area.
Two years' experience working in early childhood or child development should education requirements not be met.
Skills/Other:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact with staff and families in a team environment.
Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district.
Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Must be able to adapt to funders priorities and to assimilate new knowledge needed to meet funding requirements.
Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills.
Must have a valid Michigan driver license, current auto insurance and have the ability to travel to and from homes in the assigned geographical area.
Exhibit mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district, the constituent school districts in the service area and out of town meetings and conferences.
Skills/Other:
Must be able to obtain Department of Human Services (DHS) approval, to pass a physical exam and to obtain a satisfactory criminal history check through fingerprinting.
Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position.
